I'm confused by two seemingly contradictory theories. We often hear about the benefits of intermittent fasting on metabolic health and reducing insulin resistance. We are told that eating many meals and snacking throughout the day is bad for you because every time you eat you get a spike in blood glucose (big or small, depending on how much you eat and what you eat) and trigger insulin. However, if you have to eat a whole day's caloric intake within a very small window or, in the case of OMAD, in just one sitting, wouldn't that trigger a much bigger spike in blood glucose? So from the perspective of increasing insulin sensitivity and avoiding blood glucose spikes, assuming (1) total caloric intake doesn't change, (2) what you eat doesn't change and (3) that you are eating a healthy and balanced diet, is it better to spread a day's intake over multiple small meals/snacks throughout the day or in just 1 or 2 big meals within a small feeding window? Thank you!
I’m 2 yrs post op from C2-T2 fusion, because my right hand stopped working. It became infected and spent months hospitalized and had 5 more surgeries. I know infection impedes healing, but not sure how much. I recently stopped antibiotics. Could nerves still heal or improve enough to get function back? Now only thumb and middle fingers have partial function . Had previous posterior C2-C6 fusion with C5 anterior corpectomy from failed laminectomy. Is there any new treatments for damaged spinal cord? C3-C4 cord damaged along with C7 which caused right hand to stop functioning. At which point is gaining function back a lost cause? A side note: I feel if one is getting their neck adjusted by a chiropractor, there should be an mri done, not just X-rays. How do they know when they are crushing the spinal cord if they’re only looking at X-rays? Or an I missing something? It would have saved me a lifetime of surgeries, nerve pain and loss of function. Thank you for making this information available! I greatly appreciate it! Diane
I’m a veteran that suffers from severe PTS. As a child my parents divorced when I was young. I wasn’t loved and nurtured most of my childhood as I had 5 brothers and 1 sister. I lacked a father almost all if not all of my life. The times my Dad was there he tried to manipulate me to go against my mom and grandparents. After surviving my teenage years, I then layered very traumatic military experiences to my collection of traumas. It took 31 years to start to understand how my childhood and military experiences were affecting me. I am in extremely good shape, I seek counseling on a weekly basis and have for the past 10 years, I’m conscious on what I eat and drink. I try to focus on the 6 pillars of mood and mental health as best as I can. I’ve been to weekends or retreats that also focus on all these topics. Although I'm doing all of the above consistently, I'm scared I'm running out of options to help myself which starts to resensitize thoughts I'm not capable of being normal. I’m 32 years old and feel like I’m so far behind what living life actually means. Are you aware of any supplements that can help to alleviate some of the feelings one might feel from their PTS?
