After catching covid in 2022 I no longer sweat the same way. I used to get tiny beads of sweat all over my arms and legs in the sauna - at each pore basically. Now that no longer happens. I remember you mentioning that the sweat response is a neurological function. I'm wondering how the system works, to see if this is the canary in the coal mine for other neurological impacts, and whether there are any exercises I can do to rewire my brain back and improve my body's ability to sweat effectively. Does the cold plunge help, or is that working in the opposite direction by training my body to expect external cooling? Further context, my covid bout was fairly mild, I only noticed one thing - when my heart rate increased at all, my head started buzzing. And my body did break out into full sauna style sweat.
Tell people to work hard on their memories. I am working on recovering memories every day. It is really hard and I don't want to remember bad things. I am staying away from certain timeframes until much later when I have a good therapist or when I can try LSD. But please talk about how important it is to get into a routine of training your memory. You can do it. I am seeing improvement in mine. Even from the daily cognitive issues I had from Clomipromine and Topomax.
Gut microbiome has received a lot of well deserved attention, and now we've learned a lot about the oral microbiome as well, many thanks. What about our skin? A few years ago a dermatologist made some attention grabbing headlines as the man who doesn't use soap in service of the microbiome (scandal!) and I hoped that more would develop from that, but it seemingly hasn't. (no profit motive, presumably.) The anti-aging discussion in particular is one of adding more products, new products, replenish this, renew that. The undertone is the assumption that everyone is washing everything off their skin before and after, creating the need and then managing the accumulation of these products. Out of a fluke I stopped daily washing of my face with soap around 2009, and as I'm aging I'm wondering whether to continue with this plan (I receive many compliments on my youthful complexion) or whether to stop mucking around and get on the product train. Unfortunately, most information and discussion is about specific products, and nothing on how the skin's own microbiome maintains it's health in the absence of soaps and tinctures. thanks!
We are part of a global cyber security nonprofit....but the catch is, we use a lot of neuro methods. Trust (in all its forms) is calculated using the scientific method, Biohacking using Music, and other methods. So there is a lot of overlap in the security world and the neuro science world here.
