Losin' My Shorts, Sirs

Dear Sirs and Madams, I am Ms. Heather McLaughlin, the strengthener of armitrins, and half togaryans. Just joking right now. But, I do believe there is a colorful expression of pathway significance that is creatively expressed inside the brain. This is basic knowledge. Now, I am trying for myself to uncover the unanswered questions...Does creativity for artists, by using a controlled method of both looking at specific shapes that are colored, and by also coloring in outlined shapes create a stable momentum in the brain which would register in their brain as stable, which would help creatives become more inclined to having more correct proportions when they are drawing or painting their study or their model? The subject on artists coloring outlined shapes to me seems like an effective way to help artists become even more creative. I am also very interested in knowing if other people can see stress shapes while looking away from digital and sunlight with their eyes closed, and what that could be signs of whether it is the brain expressing that there could be too much or too little of something going on in the bloodstream, or whether or not a person could have a seizure, whether or not they might have a nightmare, or even depressive episode. I'm a proud member for the first time, these are my first remarks, I am humbled to come here to ask, and I am suffering for answers. Thank you, and I hope that my humor was okay.

Could blue light filters be contributing to my mood/sleep dysregulation?

Thank you SO much for the incredible information you are sharing with us! I've learned an incredible amount from many of your podcasts while trying to get at the core of my pervasive mood, sleep, and motivation dysregulation problems. The issue that I have seemed to have narrow most of my symptoms to is light - specifically blue light. I've been wearing glasses with blue light filters and transition coatings since about the 3rd grade, and now I'm 32 years old. I also grew up in Oregon, which is about 8-9 months of grey...and during winters, the transition from night to day back to night was minimal for weeks. Since listening to you talk about the value of light, I've moved to Los Angeles, and have been experimenting with my own dis-use of my glasses (even getting several alternate pairs made with specific lense materials and without coatings). I've found that I am drastically more functional on the days that I wear contact lenses and work with my laptop on my roof under direct/indirect sunlight. I've also found that if I am wearing glasses with blue light filtering, just even 10 mins of taking them off and trying to read without any filtering (even though everything is then fuzzy), leads to a massive improvement in my productivity, attention, and ability to stay functional. I understand your position on blue light filtering before bedtime - that has helped reduce the friction to get to sleep...but can you please talk more about blue light and just light in general throughout the day? Could my glasses really be the ones impacting my daytime functionality? I often work indoors in dark or artificially lit environments when my body is supposed to be expecting daytime light signals. I'm wondering if I should just go all-contacts and seek lasik surgery. Is there a specific lens material that you recommend? Any information you can share about this would be incredibly helpful! Thanks!! P.S. the eightsleep recommendation really paid off. For the first time in a VERY long time, I am consistently getting full night's worth of sleep. It's not the same 8-9 hours every day yet - still working on my circadian rhythm timing and building a routine, but at least I am sleeping, and that's been incredibly helpful. Thank you!

Alcohol Research

I appreciate your zeal on alcohol. But I would like you tt address the research specifically. The Canadian Meta analysis was well done. But there is a flaw. The studies included were almost all based on self reporting. They taught us in Med School to double what folks tell you; in ER medicine TRIPLE. How does one take this into account? Just this May Harvard researchers were quoted in the Harvard Women's Health Watch saying that the research is not rigorous (May issue). No RCT has ever been done. Other surveys have noted that most folks under report. I did the Sunnyside App (super helpful) to learn more and dial back my 2 glass of wine a day drinking. Please address. Thank you.

sharp pain o skin when healing from sexual abuse

I realized about 15+ years ago that I had been sexually abused. As my healing progressed, I started feeling sharp pain on my body, in the area of the skin, when I get relaxed. I theorized that whenever my body relaxed, usually between sleep and wake, even before the sharp pains would occur, that when I am in that relaxed state whatever was "repressed" start coming out, as a manner of saying. The sharp pains to me would actually cause me to scream out loud at times, when I am alone and it was socially acceptable for me to scream out loud. I theorize that those sharp pains are nerve pains, since they occur at various places on my body. Have you heard anything about this, not necessarily research, but perhaps even reports that have not been researched. I don't hope to be able to stop these sharp nerve pains other than healing from the abuse, but I do want to learn as much as I can about the neurobiology and the physiology of this, and any other science or explanation about this.
