What’s your idea about Saffron for improving cognitive function and mood, and also the added value for ADHD (as an alternative for Ritalin,…)?

Testosterone and a moody husband?

Hi, Dr. H., My husband has been taking cold showers and icing his scrotum since early winter, based on advice he’s heard here, and I perceive him to be more moody and confrontational. We’re trying to conceive, but he’s only 34, and we did not have difficulty getting pregnant the first time around. (Side note: thank you for the amazing episode on fertility— it blew my mind and helped me comprehend changes in my body now that I’m 38.) Anyway, he’s convinced that scientific evidence does not support my observations that his increase in testosterone has impacted his competitiveness and likelihood to perceive comments as a threat. We both appreciate and trust what you teach and discuss: so, would you address this for me and other wives— I mean listeners? If scientific evidence and society and I, myself, readily admit that my mood shifts based on my hormonal cycles each month, why isn’t the same true when we talk about men and their hormones? Is this a double standard, or just scientifically true? Thanks for your time, and I await your response with bated breath. -A

Using light to prevent waking up at night / nocturnal awaking

I often tend to wake up in the middle of the night and have trouble falling back asleep, I'm assuming this is because of an early morning rise in cortisol levels. Would it be possible to shift this rise in cortisol levels to later by light exposure in the early evening? (Before 9 PM). This is acutally something that's recommended by the makers of Ayolite (the special bright light exposure glasses), but I'm a little bit sceptical it could work.

Tongkat Ali - Immediate Benefit!?

Hi, I’m 35, and started taking care of my body and mind a little less than a year ago, partly as I noticed my libido decreasing. Before then, I guess you could say good genetics allowed me to be lazy, and avoid living a healthy lifestyle. I didnt watch what I ate, nor go to the gym, though I do engage in sporting activities occasionally. Anyway, fast forward to 10 months into taking care of myself: gym, nutrition, supplements & practicing a lot of what you teach. Feeling better than ever mentally & physically, however only a slight noticeable increase in libido. I started taking Tongkat Ali about 2 weeks ago. (I’m 140lbs, so only 200mg per day.) About a week in, I felt like my libido had noticeably increased, and after 10 days I was waking up feeling like I was 18 again. Wondering if this is the tongkat ali working, or perhaps coincidence after living a healthy lifestyle for long enough for the other factors to come into play?. I believe you mention it can take up To 12 weeks for Tongkat Ali to kick in, and I assume this varies from person, but could it really have worked after 10 days? Really appreciate your work. It’s been incredibly beneficial to me, and hence those around me, my family & friends, who have to deal with me on a daily basis! Thank you!
