Deep dive on Lipoprotein(a) - evolutionary benefits, risks, management

Elevated lipoprotein(a) is an incredibly good risk indicator for cardiac events yet seldom tested for. Its level is commonly believed to be genetically predetermined. There are no drugs to reduce it. Statins and aspirin are deemed to be the treatment of choice. There are some theories on its evolutionary benefits and management. Linus Pauling hypothesised it as a surrogate to vitamin c. It's an interesting topic that could alert many people to their risk factor and cue them in to managing it, either with statins, aspirin, or targeted supplements.

Microplastic in restaurants

Dear Andrew, I am grateful to you for the latest podcast about microplastic, thank you for speaking out about this. I work in the restaurant industry as a wellness chef and you probably know that most of the dishes in restaurants are pre-cooked in vacuum bags at temperature from 40 to 99 degrees Celsius (Sous-vide method). Some experts even claim that this is the most healthier method of cooking bcs there is no oxidation. I am not sure if it’s worth eating food from a plastic bag (which has been in hot water for several hours) or it’s better to avoid it. I wonder if there are any researches that have measured the amount of microplastic in foods before cooking in sous-vide and after that? What do you think about sous-vide in general? And is ghat a breakthrough in cooking or just another source of microplastics in our body under the guise of healthy nutrition? Thanks, Natalie

How do you review new products for Longevity?

Dear Andrew. Before anything, I LOVE the work you do! I've been taking care of myself with preventive medicine for a while now and as much I study about the topic, the more I see that many of the products in US are not great for our bodies... I work in corporate, but because I care, I've been working to bring products from Brazil and other locations that are healthier for us! I would love to send you some - including a sugar substitute, made out of Tapioca Starch. It's a resistant fiber and does not spike when consumed :) It can be used even for diabetic people. I LOVE it and many of my friends are now on it! I would love to send it to you to try! Tried to find something on the site that would relate to products but couldnt find. Hope to hear from you or your team! Thank you! Priscila

How to find a Reliable Functional Medicine Doctor

I've listened to numerous amazing doctors on your show, none of whom I will ever be able to receive healthcare from. Is there a way to find a functional medicine doctor in my area and ensure that they're truly qualified? There are lots of snake oil salesmen out there. Love, love, love the podcast.

Kamil Ugurbil

Greetings and salutations Mr. Huberman, as a loyal listener of your podcast episodes and a rookie member of your lab, I have learned a lot and admire your modesty and knowledge very much. Kamil Ugurbil from University of Minnesota might be an interesting scientist to follow his researches. Also I am not sure if he published his papers in English but Prof. Dr. Türker Kılıç is a terrific neurologist as well. Both scientist have researches related to genomic analysis. I am aware that I haven't asked a question but I assume we could share our ideas with you here as well. Have a great Sunday.
