Thoughts on the science behind brain.fm (an alternative to binaural beats)

Hello I'm just a customer of brain.fm and am not related to the company in any other way. Your podcasts have covered white noise and binaural beats. Brain.fm claims to combine these with other techniques (modulation to alter brain activity, 3D spatialization, salience reduction, etc.) and claims to have better results. They seem to have around 150K regular users as well. Is it possible for you to review the science behind them (https://www.brain.fm/science) or maybe even the product itself? Thanks

Better sleep and focus for students

Hey, I am 18 yr old student. I sometimes have to study for exams and stay awake till late nights and the next day afternoon my mind feels heavier and when I try to sleep that time I can't, even if i get the fan on. I also don't know how to focus clearly when working on a task because of my phone. I use app blockers but I still get the urge to check my phone. What can I do?

Cigars

What is your opinion on smoking cigar on occasion? How bad are they and what do they do to your brain and body when you smoke them?

Use of bouts of Prolonged Fasting (5-7 days) for Body Composition

Would it make sense to consume a diet high in protein, with a moderate amount of carbohydrates, and intersperse bouts of prolonged fasting, over the course of a few months in order to achieve ideal body composition? The specifics of the diet would involve the use of a mix of resistance training and cardiovascular training both during feeding and fasting periods, to continue producing a signal for muscle maintenance/synthesis and continued endurance. The objective would be to build muscle slowly through progressive overload during feeding periods and maintain as much muscle as possible during fasting periods while still losing body fat. This would only continue till the a body fat percentage of 10-15% is achieved and then a maintenance diet would be assumed. What do you think?

Finding a Good GP

Hi Dr. Huberman, How can one find a good GP? A GP (or other professional) which can help one optimise one’s life and is interested in helping one achieve a healthspan which is the same length as one’s lifespan. Someone one can trust and get good information from. Someone like you if you where a GP. In short: How to find a personal Andrew Huberman for oneself? Thank you for all the amazing work you do and thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world!
