I saw an article in the WSJ journal 1.24.2013 print edition about wet suits vs no suit for a swim in the bay. Because I am following Wendy Suzuki's protocal for "hypocampus bubble bath" I would like to know if there are any studies using this population of cold water swimmers and memory improvment. Is the cold swim protective of any condtion?
I heard that in order to get in the habit of doing something, you have to think about enjoying the action itself as opposed to waiting for the reward that comes after. I dont understand how somebody could enjoy washing the dishes or doing similar things without lying to themselves. I am so close to getting someone on craigslist to come in and do it for me.
In a recent episode you mentioned that taking too many probiotics can lead to "brain fog." This is a condition that a lot of people seem to suffer from, but is so ill-defined it's hard to know what it is exactly (or if it is even real). Are you aware of any studies on brain fog, potential causes (other than probiotics) and potential treatments? Thank you!
Can you address the neuroscience connected to smartphones and social media use in kids? How does everything from texting and messaging to social media use (either one sided use - watching but not engaging, to fully engaged) impact brain development and mental health of kids? And are there studies showing how this effects kids at various ages?
