Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) is a common sleep disorder marked by an acute compulsion to move a leg (or other limb), often occurring as one is trying to fall asleep, that causes extreme discomfort if the limb is not moved, and short term relief if the limb is moved, that can be disruptive to healthy sleeping patterns. From my very rudimentary read of the literature, two causes are typically cited, one having to do with iron deficiency (or a deficiency in how the body processes and/or distributes iron), and the other having to do with dopamine receptor disruption. However the interplay of these two potential causes, and the behavioral, supplement, and pharmacological interventions they suggest, are not entirely clear to me. Can you please summarize the state of research on RLS and recommend potentially effective therapies to explore with a physician? Thank you
I teach a Self Care course for college students. This term I gave them an assignment to pick a self care activity to do over the next 6 weeks. To my surprise there are quite a few that are going to eat an orange while showering to help improve their health. In my 20+ years of teaching, this one is in my top 10 of "What the what??" topics. I am keeping an open mind, perhaps the aromatherapy of the smell of citrus combined with the steam of the shower may trigger some kind of positive physiological response. What are your thoughts? Is there any validity/science to this?
Hi, I wanted to know your opinion around recovery for long term (15/16 years) of cannabis users. Lifetime consumption of 15K - 20K units (times of usage, mainly flowers). I know someone who was a long term user and recently gave it up. What are some of the best activities for such an individual to engage in during the recovery process and for the rest of their life. Would love to share your insight with them if possible. Thank you for all work you and your team put together!
