Hello Dr. Huberman. I am unable to determine if caffeine consumption is having a net positive impact on my life. I understand the benefits (increased dopamine receptor density, increased alertness, etc...) but after a few weeks of consumption, the negatives start to outweigh the positive ones (poor quality sleep, lack of appetite, anxiety, etc...). When I don't consume caffeine, I find it a lot easier to be mindful and my meditation practice is much better, but I am lethargic and less motivated. For years I have been "on and off" caffeine and I can't determine which is better. What is your opinion on the net benefit of daily caffeine consumption and how can someone determine if daily caffeine consumption is right for them?
I've seen tremendous benefits from deliberate cold exposure -- clarity of thought, non-jittery alertness, peaceful mood, curiosity, so much! But I've also experienced at least one time (even before doing the deliberate cold exposure) that cold can give me sore throat or even cold like symptoms. Is this a possible side effect? what might the reasons be -- especially when doing cold exposure **inside in a clean disinfected home**? what is the effect of cold exposure in the immune system?
I have a sleep analyzer and I typically observe that I get a lot of REM sleep (~30% of total sleep) but my deep sleep is often low (~10%). Are there any science backed protocols I can use to specifically increase my deep sleep? Secondly, is this high level of REM and lower level of deep sleep likely to cause any health issues?
Can we get a deep dive on women’s health/hormones/menstrual cycle? The topic deserves its own episode given the complexity and how impactful female hormones can be on vitality. I think your male following would benefit to learn as well. The podcast tends to focus more on men’s health (reasonably as there is more data on men but still) Please please please do the ladies a favor & give us an episode!
