Kind of a broad question, but do Dating Apps like Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, etc affect our brains? This is a relatively new development in mating and I wondering your thoughts as well as any science to support and changes due to online dating. Perhaps also how it affects the dating market in general. Lastly, what is your personal opinion of online dating? haha Anecdataly, I see big brain chemistry changes in myself, getting that new message from a potential partner, holding many conversations with potential mates at once, and the shear quantity of folks you could conceivably date has done very different things to me than when I was talking to one or two girls in middle school or high school. Thanks for taking the time and doing what you do!
My question is would it be too much to ask for an ad-free version of all content considering we are paying members? Though never expressly stated, I was under the impression that we would get access to everything publicly available, everything available on the premium feed, as well as support our favorite podcast and science in general. I'm all for it. I guess a standard that so far has not been adopted by this podcast is ad-free listening as a premium member. Am I off base here? To be frank, I skip through the ads no matter how well integrated, it seems like an ad-free podcast would be a better experience and allow for better continuity from the start of the episode, as well as throughout the episode - better retention and consumption of that sweet sciencey goodness that is HubermanLab. Thanks, gang, and thanks, Andrew! -Listener in Alaska doing his darndest to get sun in his eyes no matter how dark our winter is...!
Hi, I'd like to know whether you can point out to me some quality sources to learn from regarding "principles underlying neural receptor upregulation and downregulation". From what I understand, chronic substance use often induces receptor downregulation. So I was wondering what are the mechanisms underlying receptor upregulation after abstinence from substance use? Are there known timelines for receptors getting back to baseline? Are there interventions that can promote or accelerate receptor upregulation after chronic substance use? Even a reference to a book or relevant article would be much appreciated. Thanks!
On the Youtube Page, it says "link to exercise video for smooth pursuit, amblyopia, etc." However, this leads to a page for "lazy eye" exercises (all of which involve covering a healthy eye) I was under the impression that the smooth pursuit exercises, etc. did not involve having a lazy eye, am I wrong? Can I still do the exercises, and will they still be beneficial?
