In the cold and flu episode, you mentioned the anecdotally effective method of swishing water around the mouth and swallowing it first thing in the morning. Do you do this only when healthy or when you are sick as well? And, not to be gross, but does this also mean that eating eye crust or boogers could be protective (my dog definitely eats her own eye crust and kids seem to naturally eat their own boogers before corrected by adults, so I am very curious)?
I have had pretty bad allergies in the last few places I’ve lived, meaning I was allergic to numerous things in the area and the result was congestion, post-nasal drip, sometimes a cough, and in Austin Cedar Fever usually takes me down with flu like symptoms. I took Zyrtec everyday for years, felt like it wasn’t working well anymore and switched to Allegra. My question is, is taking something like Allegra everyday bad for you and/or is there a holistic way to fight allergies?
You mention in your cold and flu episode that swooshing water when we wake up can favorably seed our microbiome. This got me thinking could the mucous from our nose or bacteria from our nose somehow be a way to populate our sinus/eyes/ears microbiomes? I know-ewwww but 🤷🏻♀️
