Hi Dr. Huberman I am in the thick of cause and effect of stress and hormone chaos. I’ve lived with a diagnosis of secondary adrenal insufficiency. It was detected in a blood test where my Testosterone had a very low value of 1. My body no longer generates cortisol. I’ve experienced an adrenal crises twice. Strength is a looming symptom. I’ve walked 1,000 km last year and accumulated no strength. It seems it’s mostly cortisol. When I talk to my endocrinologist about ‘strength’, it’s a short discussion. So, if I can’t increase strength, I need to understand my cortisol demand. Understand with some precision, the breakdown and characteristics of physical stress versus emotional stress. My goal is recognition and conservation. Identify the numerous unknown leaks of cortisol and plug them. My response to low T was been gel replacement. At a maximum dose, my T hasn’t edged into the lower range of normal. My condition has increased my sensitivity to cortisol dynamics. I am a stress canary in the coal mind. I suppose it can be a blessing but it’s quite difficult. Your discussions are rich in this area of science and I’m feeling some encouragement and hope having located your podcasts. I am a veteran. I have been at war for decades. As a soldier and then as a civilian protecting civilians trapped in war. Lots of stress. My work was thick in military culture. And ironically, I spoke to the world’s elite soldiers about the rules of war. About being a warrior. I have been a philanthropic supporter of public health. Hi Andrew I have listened to your podcast on intermittent fasting. It was great to hear the science behind the process. I am doing 20:4 - I am very strict and have a lifestyle that fits with this. 4 weeks in. I’ve lost 8.1 kilos. Have to have electrolytes and multi vitamins as not eating enough. Weight loss, inflammation, blood sugar and liver is my focus. I have psoriatic arthritis so exercise is painful other than a small walk. I am also a caeliac and have had years of high carb diet. Therefore these results are amazing - inflammation gone, irritable bowel gone, stomach pain gone - can’t believe it. However, I am also injecting 2mg saxenda each day. Given this slows down digestion in the stomach, will this have an affect on fasting phase even though I am getting great results. I am 61. Sorry about diatribe. 😊
