Wonderful Day, Dr. Huberman In a 🌻future podcast could you invite Ragnar Purje Ph.D. Neuroscientist to discuss bio mechanical research on grip In handwriting. Also, as a continuum to one of your previous podcast on creativity could you invite D.Kenneth Richardson author of the book title Sparking Innovation Thank You
I am feeling rather ill equiped for dealing with a series of deaths. I just turned 77 and in the past several months I have lost five relatives and friends. The latest unexpected death was of one of the friends who is amongst the people who have been most dear to me lifelong. I wonder if there is a literature on ways to grieve close personal losses? Given that death is universal it strikes me as odd that I never learned much about handling grief in the course of my informal education growing up. I'd like to be able to model for my adult children how to better handle these inevitable and irrevocable changes.
On one of your podcasts, you referenced 5 things to do when first waking up. Possibly adding an electrolyte to water was part of one of them. I'm 72 years old and do have water when I wake up. What would the advantages be for me to add an electrolyte? If I were to add an electrolyte, which type would you recommend as I don't want to overdo the sodium. Thank you. John
Hi there. I am a 69-year-old man in good health in some respects, not so in others. I am 40 lbs overweight (using my target as my best weight at 21 plus about 15 lbs). I exercise daily, strength and aerobic and I eat well, but too much. When I look at suggested levels of calories, protein, carbs, etc and etc, it seems they are general numbers and not focused on my current state. So my question is, should I eat the level of protein it is suggests for the weight I want to be at, or the weight I am at (given the suggestion was a certain amount per lb of weight). Same question for all my nutrients. Thanks!
Greetings All, As I have been getting older, still a relatively young 31 year old, I have found that my brain processing speed has began to decline. I have went through neuropsychologist and have been cleared and am considered still above normal metrics. This is obviously an internal problem where I am comparing my younger self to my older self. I am wondering if there are protocols that allow you to maintain and possibly increase processing speed and mental acuity? Ideally, I would like to be my young sharp self, but now with the knowledge and wisdom I have obtained over the years.
My stepson has Friedreichs ataxia which is progressing. One of his families biggest struggles are navigating new forms of transportation and latest treatments. Stairs higher tables expensive vehicles etc. i know its slightly outside your normal physiologically based shows but I was wondering if you or any colleagues could help or expand on nee options. Treatments and mobility are the primary concerns. Thanks
Hi! Andy, As you would only provide the most accurate and updated information to the reader, the book has been postponed for another year to 2026( hope I get it right about the date). Understand that you may be waiting some of the exciting human trials that will be uncovered in the coming 9 months or strenuously try to make everything perfect. How about providing a link in the book as well as digital editiondirectly to hubermanlab.com with most updated information (as well errata for typo, if AI doesn't catch them.) This way you can always update the sections of your writing in case some further evidence proves otherwise or there are other newly discovered and repeated trials indicating interesting findings for healthspan. Was hopping to read the book a few days ago and then found out the date has been postponed... Perfection is the enemy of achievements... There are iphone but then 3, 3G, 4, ....etc Wish everything well!
Dear Dr Huberman (and team), First of all, many thanks for the excellent work you've put up with. In the mental health field (but so many others!!!), you have been able to present so much data to the general population which I find to be life saving in so many ways. As a clinician, to be able to let patients chose for themselves the way they want to live their lives but based on good information is fundamental! So thanks again and again. My question is as to know your opinion on the work done by Dr Frank Corrigan and the method he presents, which is called "Deep Brain Reorienting". Many therapists I have spoken to in several conferences lately this year have been telling how tranforming this has been in their own practices. https://deepbrainreorienting.com/ I'm also looking into neurofeedback (infra-low frequency protocols), but this is for another discussion, I guess! Respectfully, Isabel Filgueira MD FRCPC Clinical assistant professor, Université de Sherbrooke
Hi Andrew, I have retinitis pigmentosa and was wondering how much this condition would contribute to fatigue? My condition has been diagnosed as being less than 10% in my better eye. Not sure how long I have been battling the condition but was formally diagnosed some 3-4 years ago. I still live a reasonably active lifestyle, although I have had to change a little in recent times. I do suffer from a high level of fatigue and in consultation with my GP, I have a good clean bill of health other than my RP. Could the RP be an overload that results in higher levels of fatigue? Interested in your thoughts. Michael.
Hi Andrew, I'm interested in pysillisybin treatment for depression. Is this available currently and if so who can I see. I'm a physician (podiatrist x 38 yrs) and live near you/Stanford in Palo Alto. I've heard many of your podcasts and recently joined through Patreon to support what you are doing. Thank you. Steven N. Klein, DPM. ABPS. ACFAS.
I have a patent pending on a product that prevents Cauti's which could save hospitals, 1.7 billion a year in penalties and lack of reimbursements. I am an ICU nurse and not a businessman, but I think it'd be awesome to work with you if it's something that might interest you. I'm just trying to navigate the next steps. Would you be interested?
What are your thoughts on heavy metal contamination of green powders, such as AG1? There have been recent articles that identify potential contaminants, for example here is one from MD Anderson https://www.mdanderson.org/cancerwise/what-to-know-about-greens-powders.h00-159623379.html
Hi Dr. Huberman, thank you for allowing us to ask a question. I have torn both retinas, had laser and surgery, also had a bleed in one eye. I was always afraid to be outside or inside most of the time without sunglasses. I have had halo headaches and floaters, blurred vision and a lot of fear from all of this trauma. But since I have been doing your breathing exercises and gazing at the sun in the early afternoon, which I would have been afraid to do prior to listening to your podcast. Now I feel that I can go without sunglasses unless in very bright sun. I have only been gazing for a few days and can already feel the difference, but mostly the breathing exercises are changing my life. Thank you so much for your incredible podcast and your research. My life has changed because of you. My question is do supplements with astaxanthin with Luetin the best combination for eye health. Can you suggest a particular brand. I have started on BioAstin Hawaiian Astraxanthin 20 mg __ just wondering if this is the right direction. Also I have noticed since I began eating healthy nuts raw and without salt, also raw vegetables, good fats and certain fruits like berries and have noticed my floaters are disappearing. Does Food play a very important part of eye health? Thank you.
Hi Andrew, I have been reading on the possibility of using supplemental lithium for Alzheimer's/dementia. What is your take on this? I'm considering lithium orotate in particular. And I'm so happy to be a member! Your work is absolutely fascinating and thank you for all your generous work. PS, Ditto on your appearance on Bill Maher...great job!
I was diagnosed with stage 4 heart failure and was looking for your advice on how to deal with this. I am 62 years old and working full time. I am not exhibiting any symptoms at this time. From what I have seen on stage 4 heart failure, this must be some kind of anomaly right ? By the way, great job on the Bill Maher show :)
Long time listener and have an inquiry (understand if this goes into an inbox of 10m+). I'm wondering if you all had any idea or research around people who do not experience hunger or thirst. I have not been hungry/thirsty since I was 13 year old (currently 31 M) and have seen many specialists where all roads lead to anxiety as the answer. I've recently quit alcohol after being what we would consider a heavy weekly drinker to see if this is a part of the equation. Regardless, I'm searching for more research or options to explore/test with my body.
Help I'd like to add a document of how many times I cycle in and out of all 3 sleep phases. How do I do that? I don't stay in any one for more than a few minutes at a time. I have slept my life away, IH, CFS. Thanks. stap.t@yahoo.com Could it be underlying Epilepsy? I have TRIED EVERYTHING. 903 530 7541
