I live in a place where loud work is carried out at night. I can't sleep because of the noise and wake up with high heart rate etc. I now always have a white noise playing throughout the night (AC / fan noise) with the whitenoise I can sleep, because it drowns out the noise. Is it harmful if the brain has to process this white noise throughout the whole night for 8 / 9 hours if I do this every night for years? Can I benefit at all from the effects of sleep (regeneration, rest etc) if a noise is constantly playing, the brain has to process it?
I have been prescribed isotretinoin (Accutane) for severe acne, but there are concerns about its impact on the brain, particularly the hippocampus and cortex, and its potential effects on memory and cognitive function. I would greatly appreciate your expert opinion on whether isotretinoin can indeed have such effects.
