Testing Supplement Efficacy Protocol

When you are testing to see if a supplement (or useful compound) is beneficial to you, what is your method/protocol for testing it's efficacy for you personally? Thanks!

Heavy Metal Detox

Hi Andrew, I recently discovered I have a high amount of MRI contrast dye (Gadolinium) in my system a decade after being rear-ended and getting a brain bleed concussion. This is terrible news since I am already above the high range of normal for Mercury, Arsenic, and Lead. I am told it is a methylation issue, and I will be doing a detox starting next week. What would you recommend doing to eliminate heavy metals from the system? I'm sure sauna and any exercise that causes you to sweat are at the top of your list, but what about binders and fiber? Thank you so much!

Hormone Replacement after Menopause

Hi Andrew, I've listened to all your podcasts having to do with hormones and am still confused... If I want to regain the energy I had pre-menopause, is it ok to get on Progesterone Hormone Replacement Therapy 15 yrs. after menopause? I know you believe in behaviors and supplementation first before going the pharmaceutical route, so there something natural I could do instead of taking drugs? Or, could improving other hormones naturally jump start my Progesterone? Thank you.

Immunoglobulins

Hi Andrew, What do you recommend people do if WBC count is low, as are immunoglobulins? A strong immune system seems beyond necessary these days and my markers are way low. My overall health is fine, but I don't understand why these tests always come back red flagged as low... I follow your advice re: behaviors and supplements, and I am a whole new person two years after discovering you, but these tests have me worried. Any ideas why someone's immune system would be chronically low in spite of overall decent health? Do you think doing immunoglobulin therapy is ok? Thank you!

REM isolated obstructive sleep apnea (REM OSA)

In PTSD the higher norepinephrine level during REM causes nightmares, and there are the studies about REM sleep as overnight therapy as well as the emotional consequences of REM deprivation (Matt Walker). Could there be similar consequences for repeated apnea arousals and awakenings in REM (similar to an old 1960s REM deprivation study Matt Walker referenced in his book p.309) with REM OSA that could produce similar neurocognitive consequences? Especially since so much of neuroloplasticity, brain rewiring and emotional processing happens in this stage of sleep.
