I was going to ask what your lab is currently researching but got my answer in the Attia podcast. What is the cost for the research that you're doing? Is there a platform for research to be publicly funded (ala kickstarter)? I am a huge fan of your podcast and now your current research and think it's would be a huge benefit to everyone. I would love to be able to spread awareness and get more funding for your projects.
I'm a 22-year-old college student suffering from tinnitus (noise-induced). I sometimes consume smokeless nicotine pouches as a cognitive enhancer, and I am worried about damaging my hearing further (and worsening the ringing) due to nicotine's ototoxic properties. I am wondering if a supplement like Alpha GPC (which you call a "milder nicotinic agent") acts on the brain similarly, and would presumably also be a net negative (short-term focus boost vs. additional permanent hearing damage). Further, as someone who is under 25, are there any supplements or lifestyle changes that may allow me to capitalize on my brain's remaining plastic years to help me improve my tinnitus?
I have a question relating to the Gut-Brain Connection, particularly the effects if the gut is compromised. I have undergone a proctocolectomy & IPAA surgery that removed my large intestine due to ulcerative colitis that was unresponsive to all forms of medication. I have on many occasions read of this and a link to poor mental health, however most is anecdotal and I am not sure how much weight to put behind these claims. However if there is real risk to my mental performance and health i would like to be able to combat it. I understand the disclaimer relating to medical advise from Dr Huberman, I however would like to understand what the latest literature says on this as I am not in a position to be able to review the medical literature due to a lack of understanding of the nomenclature. Thank you for the podcast it is really engaging and enlightening.
